Produktbeschreibung
IECOT offers a multiperspectival, innovative and relevant interpretation of the books of the Old Testament (including Deuterocanonical books) to a broad audience of scholars, laypeople and pastors.
IECOT is international: it has editorial board members and authors from North America, Europe and Israel and all volumes will appear in both English and German.
IECOT is ecumenical in bringing scholars of diverse Christian and Jewish perspectives into collaboration. Moreover, the series covers all of the books of the Hebrew and Greek Old Testament canons, including the Deuterocanonical books of many Christian confessions.
A key way that IECOT is contemporary is in the way it combines approaches that are often opposed to each other: the volumes offer a synchronic analysis of the text across different stages of its formation (especially its final stage) and a diachronic perspective, focused on the text's development across time. In addition, IECOT includes other perspectives such as gender criticism, social history, liberation theology and reception history as relevant to the books under discussion.
